For the past 2 years, we have had the pleasure to support Heiva San Diego: a celebration of dance, culture, and traditions from the Islands of Tahiti.
Every year the festival gathers many from across the country to come see the performance. The theme of this year’s event is “Te Moana” it means "The Ocean."
The family-friendly festival will take place at The Concourse, located in the Gaslamp, on August 19, 20th and 21st. The event will feature international artists, authentic Polynesian and Tahitian food, crafts, demonstrations and spectacular musical performances. The event will also include world-class dance Tahitian performances and competition. It’s a time to celebrate the beautiful Polynesian culture.
“Heiva is about authenticity, our islands, our roots and sharing our tradition and culture,” said Maeva Tarahu McNicol, President, Reva Tahiti Productions, creators and producer of the event, in a press release.
Heiva San Diego was created in 2001. Its mission is to promote friendship and cultural understanding between the people of French Polynesia and the United States through culture, arts, language, dance, and music.
While the festival has been going on for 6 years, we at Backyard X-Scapes have supported the event for only 2 years, but we hope to continue supporting them for many years to come.
